Continental : A.C. Rumpa

I recently went to Paranaque for a lunch meeting with a client at A.C. Rumpa which originally opened in 1968 at Clark, Pampaga. It has a long history behind it, starting with its name; A.C. Rumpa (which stands for Angeles City Retired US Military Personnel Association) and was collectively owned by United States servicemen stationed at the base within this city. Today it is owned by Dr. Rolando Angeles, who decided to bring it to Manila, while still keeping the same concept and menu for the customers.

I have been to Pampanga but I don’t really know that A.C. Rumpas is one of the best places to go food tripping so I got really excited about eating here. The menus are basically American or Pampaga-American, Their Specialties are Roast Beef with mashed potatoes and gravy, Barbequed Spare Ribs (marinated in a secret sauce and baked) and T-bone steak. The waiter strongly recommended the barbecued spare ribs and the sisig, which is a traditional dish from Pampanga. As we all know sisig is minced pig ears and head served on a sizzling hot plate which is cooked in a lot of butter, calamansi, chicken liver and lots of onion is simply the best.

We ordered sisig and T-bone steak, which came with a side of buttered (pre-packed and frozen) vegetables, the diced carrots-peas-corn kernels medley, and a choice of either rice or mashed potatoes. The stak weighs 150 grams, was too thin for my liking, but very tender and tasty. The sisig is simply perfect and I ordered a bottle of San Mig light to complement it.

For the price P300 per person this place is highly recommended, Their motto here is "Where good food is at its lowest possible price." you simply can't go wrong.
