A Veneto/ Napoli Pizzeria

We visited A Veneto Pizza or otherwise known as Napoli where the cheapest pizza and pasta is found. This pizza copied its style from Italian restaurants in New Jersey, where pizza are large good enough for more than 2 people.

Their best pizza is the 5-Nut Pesto and is served in a lot of styles, which is a must order. We also tasted buffalo Wings , Bacon Cheese Burger Pizza, Roast beef and cheese hero sandwich and the Oil and garlic pasta with seafood which is a basic yet flavorful pasta concoction served with squid, shrimps and shellfish are simply the best.

This is a casual and cash payment, with limited parking, no smoking allowed.

A Taste of L.A. Cafe

This is a house owned by a retired army nurse that dates back to the 1950s. It was nine years ago when couple Junet and Elaine Galvez saw the potential and transformed the multi-level residence to what is known today as A Taste of L.A. Cafe. The wood burning oven, as old as the home is their pride and joy that produces knock out pizzas and bread.

A family affair right down to the mixing of the sauces and spices, the couple oversees the operation of the restaurant literally 24/7 since they also reside within the domicile.

While looking over the menu, we ordered some fresh fruit shakes and decided on the Spinach Pizza with Smoked bacon (we requested it put on a thin crust, which they gladly oblidged), wo like Rockefellah! (Oysters baked with spinach, double cream, bacon & cheese) and the Asian Salad (strips of grilled chicken breast, capsicum, water chestnuts, carrots, celery, crispy noodles sprinkled with cashew nuts, coriander and vinaigrette dressing) for starters - or so we thought! They were all delicious and surprisingly quite filling. the pizza was light and crunchy with just the right amount of ingredients, no overload of cheese here. this is where you notice the difference of how a pizza is cooked when establishment has a wood burning brick oven; the crust is crisp and full of flavor. Their sald, creatively presentd was terrific. All the ingredients mixed with a light dressing, a hint of coriander and cashew after every bite was gone in no time.

Leave room for dessert, you'll thank us later! We had three African Date Cake with Cinnamon Ice Cream, Mango Jubilee and Bibingka (a native rice cake with the 20-minute wait!) which we shared of course. In one word, they were all delicious.

90 Proof - Filipino Bar / Chow

Located on the ground floor of the Raffles Center in Ortigas, this busy bar dishes up good quality bar food with a small list of cocktails and other beverages. A quick glance shows an after work crowd, some stopping in for a drink and others selecting from well made bar food.

Whilst browsing the concise menu, we surprisingly discovered that in addition to the usual bar food there were some different and creative items though a few were not available. Among these creative dishes was a grilled Salmon Fillet with Orange Rice Pilaf and Mango Salsa which was adequately prepared with the flavors blending nicely. Not wanting to let the more traditional bar food go astray, a serving of Crispy Pata arrived with a melt in the mouth interior and a usual suspect of dipping sauce.

Although the interior appear slightly worn and the atmosphere smoky (this place is foremost a bar), the food when available was quite good and well-priced.

casual attire, they accept cash or credit cards, very limited street parking and they allow smoking this is a Full Bar and do not have corkage fee.
