A Taste of L.A. Cafe

This is a house owned by a retired army nurse that dates back to the 1950s. It was nine years ago when couple Junet and Elaine Galvez saw the potential and transformed the multi-level residence to what is known today as A Taste of L.A. Cafe. The wood burning oven, as old as the home is their pride and joy that produces knock out pizzas and bread.

A family affair right down to the mixing of the sauces and spices, the couple oversees the operation of the restaurant literally 24/7 since they also reside within the domicile.

While looking over the menu, we ordered some fresh fruit shakes and decided on the Spinach Pizza with Smoked bacon (we requested it put on a thin crust, which they gladly oblidged), wo like Rockefellah! (Oysters baked with spinach, double cream, bacon & cheese) and the Asian Salad (strips of grilled chicken breast, capsicum, water chestnuts, carrots, celery, crispy noodles sprinkled with cashew nuts, coriander and vinaigrette dressing) for starters - or so we thought! They were all delicious and surprisingly quite filling. the pizza was light and crunchy with just the right amount of ingredients, no overload of cheese here. this is where you notice the difference of how a pizza is cooked when establishment has a wood burning brick oven; the crust is crisp and full of flavor. Their sald, creatively presentd was terrific. All the ingredients mixed with a light dressing, a hint of coriander and cashew after every bite was gone in no time.

Leave room for dessert, you'll thank us later! We had three African Date Cake with Cinnamon Ice Cream, Mango Jubilee and Bibingka (a native rice cake with the 20-minute wait!) which we shared of course. In one word, they were all delicious.
